You should be able to run Xgl with this card, but not AIGLX. See here:

cannot use the automatic setup of desktop effects, but need to do a
manual setup of Xgl:

Then you should be able to run Ubuntu's compiz (instructions are linked
from above link). If you want to run beryl, you cannot use Ubuntu's
since it does not support Xgl:
