Future of "Desktop Effects" in Feisty?

Basic Intel graphics as found in many cheap laptops also works fine
 with Feisty desktop effects, with a minimum of hassle.  (Bacially
 Compiz and the Gnome workplace switcher don't like each other very
 much; I assume that will be ironed out at some point)

It works when setting the workplace switcher to show just 1 desktop,
then turn it off, then turn on desktop effects, then add the workplace
switcher again.
