Installing .deb packages with apt-get

Yes.  Same with aptitude:

# sudo aptitude install kde
...
0 packages upgraded, 228 newly installed, 1 to remove and 0 not upgraded.
Need to get 185MB of archives. After unpacking 455MB will be used.
Do you want to continue? [Y/n/?]
