GRUB question

Hello!
Sorry, I didn't put the question clearly.
Actually, I am not trying to accomplish nothing in particular, just trying
to understand (and learn).
What happened was :
I have 6.06 LTS on my boot partition. But I needed to test some SW written
specifically for Hoary HedgeHog so I've decided to install it on a free
partition. The installer handled all for me. But now, when I boot the
machine GRUB seems to be using /boot/grub/menu.lst on Hoary partition, not
the boot partition as I was expecting. I got a little confused by this,
because fdisk -l says that 6.06 LTS partition is still marked as the boot
one...

I've always believed (until now) that GRUB would look always into
/boot/grub/menu.lst
on the boot partition. Isn't that so ?

Thanks in advance for your clarifications.

Kind Regards,
Oliveiros
