Post-Hibernate Laptop Hang

Here's a problem that I've found impossible to track down.

I have a 2004-vintage HP Pavilion zv5000 series laptop (zv5202us) that
has an ATI 9100IGP video card and Broadcomm 4306 wireless. Under
dapper, hibernate and resume worked fine. Under edgy and feisty I can
always successfully resume from hibernate. But between 5 and 40 minutes
after resume, the laptop hard locks (display freezes, keyboard and
mouse nonresponsive) and I'm forced to power it down.

This happens every time I've tried resuming after hibernate. I've
observed this using the ati, fglrx, and vesa drivers for xorg, and using
either ndiswrapper or bcm43xx for the wireless. I've looked through the
debug, kern.log, syslog, and messages files in /var/log, and I cannot
find anything that might shed light on the problem.

Anyone see this with an ATI or Broadcomm-based laptop? Or does anyone
know any magic kernel switches (or other configuration magic) that might
produce more enlightening spewage in the logs?

Thanks,
Rich
