In Synaptic, got the menu File|History. There you will find, sorted by
day, a complete history of the changes that were made to the installed
packages. Note the relevant changes down somewhere, then search for the
packages. Rightclick each package and select "Mark for complete
removal" (this is equivalent to "apt-get purge package", that is, all
traces of the package, including config files, are removed)
