Question about Conky on Feisty

I've installed Conky (system monitor app) and configured it to my
needs. When I start it from the command line it opens, sits on my
desktop, no problems.

I tried to add it to my sessions so that it would automatically open
when I log on. It does, but then within 15 seconds disappears. The
conky process is still running, just no longer on my desktop.

Any ideas as to what I'm doing wrong or have missed?
