Thanks. I need to make the soundcard work on the old laptop. (Can't
afford the dislocation of upgrading the new one, which is still running
Breezy, and no amount of google-oil will make it capture from Mic.)

Oh no, there's no chance of that. In just on 30 yrs in IT, I've never
been that desperate. I think I'll stick to unix flavours. :-)
