I see that in Feisty there isn't the the firmware for the wintv nova.
Try to:

wget http://www.linuxtv.org/downloads/firmware/dvb-usb-nova-t-usb2-01.fw

sudo cp dvb-usb-nova-t-usb2-01.fw /lib/firmware

plug the device and recheck dmesg for any changes (try to reboot if any)
