Did you computer crash/went off without proper shutdown ?
If so the filesystem need fixing.
fsck /home
If it was not corrupted, then you can have a check about the SMART
security ensuring the drive access is not locked at firmware level.
(check it is not enabled).
Your bios options and or smartmontools will manage this at the linux
side.. More specific vendor tools for the Windows side.
