Cube effect

Has there been a fix issued yet for the compiz cube effect?  I enabled 
it and it didn't work, but had wobbly windows.  Then I found a fix by 
using gconf-editor, and for awhile I had the cube I could rotate using 
control-alt and mouse drag.  Then it disappeared again, I think when I 
opened the desktop effect dialog box (without changing anything).  Now I 
can't get gconf-editor to even get the cube effect back.

This is on 7.04 with all the updates.
