avast home edition for linux(ubuntu 6.10)64 bit system

Well, if you're dead set on using it... You could always set it up to
run in a 32bit chroot.
I'm not all that sure how to go about doing that (never had a 64bit CPU
to play with :)) but I am sure someone here on the mailing list could
assist you with that.

With some searching, I found

able to get you off in the right direction.
