"Save" Live CD

Can someone help me?

I have UBUNTU 7.04 Live CD.
How can I make it "persistent"?
In other words, how can I save my files,
configurations and settings without installing?
I do not want to install until I can get a
second hard drive. (I was able to do it with
Ubuntu 6.06, but now I cannot.)

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.
