Corrupted user

I have corrupted my username to where I am only allowed a 10 second 
login and I am told that $HOME/.dmrc is owned by the user(corrupted) and 
should have 644 permissions.  I accomplished this lovely task by trying 
to set up a share folder between ubuntu and osx following a tip from the 
ubuntuforums. 

I do have a 2nd username with adminstrative privileges.  I wonder if it 
is possible to recover any files owned by the corrupted user?
