Clone iMacs?

OK...I now see hdb in /dev, BUT when I try to run dd it tells me the drive
is read-only.  So I checked the properties of hdb and it says it's owned
by root and "You are not the owner, so you can't change the permissions." 
I switched to root on the Source machine to no avail.  I also tried to
"see" the drive in GPart but it isn't there.

It only shows the hda partitions.
