One way to provide more memory for the Live CD is to create a linux swap
partition before running the Live CD. Unfortunately, I don't have a good
set of step by step instructions for doing this with a screenreader, but
if you shrink your windows partition and make a gig or two sized linux
swap partition, you can run mkswap on it, and next time you boot the
Live CD, it should take advantage of your new swap partition, providing
plenty of virtual memory for the apps you want to run..
