network manager

I was using the /etc/network/interfaces file but now want to use
Network Manager.  Am I correct in remembering if I want to use Network
Manager I need to get rid of some of the existing network stuff (or
remove everything from my interfaces file)?  Is there a guide to
switching from using interfaces file to Network Manager.  What do I
need to add/remove?
