in your travels did you add another workspace switcher to any of the
panels or is the one your trying to change not the original switcher
because it seems when i add another switcher to the panel it behaves
independently of the other and also of the ctrl-alt-arrow combo so any
changes made have to be to the original one to affect the box in the
middle.
