Bizarre behavior

I run two versions of Linux - Debian Etch on partition 1, and Dapper on
2. If I boot first into Debian, when I reboot into Dapper 9 times out
of 10 I get corruption on the load, error messages such as ignoring
garbage in modules.conf, that sort of thing, or Dapper hangs at loading
hardware drivers. If I then hit the reset button, Dapper boots without
a problem. Seems to me something is hanging around in memory. Anyway of
finding out what it is ? I was always under the impression a reboot
cleared out most stuff, or at least reset IRQ's etc.

Cheers

Frank
