Wicd

I am trying to use wicd to connect wirelessly to the internet

it was working fine earlier, but now I've run into a few problems,
typified bym the fact that to send this e-mail, I have had to switch to
a wired connection

a) I accidentally, while in Wicd prefferences, switched wireless from
eth1 to eth2, now it won't let me switch back FROM WITHIN WICD
PREFERENCES, is there another way to tell wicd which to use?

b) Even before the eth2 screw-up, The wireless stopped working. I guess
the problem lies in the fact that I don't know how to recognize when
wicd has a connection. There are times when it says connected to BLANK
at BLANK%, but when I boot up firefox, I can't direct the browser to any
websites. Other times it simply stalls on connection.

IT will give me a list of wireless networks, but it refuses to connect
to them, even if there is no encryption (yes, I know how to enter the
key for when it is using encryption)

any ideas on how to fix these issues (switching back to eth1, and how I
can recognize when wicd has connected) are greatly appreciated

TIA

~Erik
