Herd5 on older hardware

I watched the 3d rotating desktop video on YouTube recently and it was
amazing. I was just thinking - can my normal Gateway run that? By normal
I mean just off the shelf stuff. Not built. No upgraded video cards. All
this eye candy is great stuff, and its just fun to play with, and I
would like to see it available on any computer - if possible - within
reason.
