Not only are the portables listed at xiph.org not available in my local
store, but they are all high-end $200+ players. I can go to
zipzoomfly.com and pick up a 2GB Muvo v100 for $79.95. Currently, this
is all I really need. It is able to use the mass storage driver so I
can transfer mp3's to it and use it to store other important files as
well. The problem is it only supports mp3 and the horrible sounding and
horribly proprietary wma. But I don't really want to spend more than
$100 for a portable music player just because it supports ogg,
especially since those usually use their own proprietary batteries so I
can't use the standard size rechargeable batteries that cost very little
money as compared to the replacement proprietary batteries for the
high-end units. That being said, if I was ever in the market for a
high-end hard drive player some of those listed seem quite nice from the
descriptions. I just hate proprietary batteries, and may look more
carefully for a unit that doesn't require that I spend $20 or more for a
replacement battery when I have AAA batteries here at home that cost
about $1 each and would power the Muvo with no trouble for almost 20
hours per charge.

Long live Ogg Vorbis, and please, please make it more widely supported
on lower priced portable players that are capable of using standard size
batteries!
