How to load a missing driver module during installation from alternate cd

Hi,

I want to install Edgy using LVM on a hard disk connected to an
ITE8211F ide controller. But the alternate cd lacks the
corresponding kernel module. The live CD ships with this module but
it does not support LVM installations. How can I load the it821x
module using the alternate cd? I already copied it821x.ko[1] to a
floppy disk because the installer asks for a driver on a floppy
disk. But it does not recognize this file as a driver. Is it the
right file? Or do I need to copy a different one to the floppy?

TIA

Best wishes
Christoph

[1] I tried both from kernel 2.6.20.1 from my Debian machine and
from kernel 2.6.17 that ships with the live CD.
