Modem not detected

My PC is using an internal Motorola modem, and it's not detected. It's  listed as an unknown PCI device. Ubuntu won't detect the built-in modem  on my Toshiba Sattelite notebook either.
  Does anybody have the list of Ubuntu detectable modems (manufacturer,  models etc.), or somebody please help me to do the settings...
