Suspend Immediately after Hibernating

I've linked an ACPI "power button" event with /etc/acpi/hibernate.sh,
and the ACPI "lid button" event with /etc/acpi/sleep.sh.

Everything seems to work great until I hit the power button and
immediately close the lid. When I resume after doing this the system
loads and I have just enough time to unlock the screen before the
computer acts on the lid button event that happened before hibernating
and then suspends.

Can anyone give me a suggestion on how to fix this? Is there some
code I can throw in the sleep.sh or events/lid.sh scripts that would
exit if the lid button event was before the hibernate.

Thanks much.
