Great, glad it was of use.
As you found out both screens must have the same colour depth.  I never 
got it working with different resolutions although this is supposed to 
work and I can't get up to the max resolution the cards will support 
either.  Still it made use of a couple of old bits of hardware that were 
sat around doing nothing and saved me spending money on a bigger screen ;-)
