Changing the resolution of a virtual terminal

Try appending to your kernel line in /boot/grub/menu.lst the following:

vga=0x317

If it doesn't work, or you don't like it, look on http://tldp.org/HOWTO/Framebuffer-HOWTO-5.html for other options.
