I screwed this up. I should have written: 'xdpyinfo | grep resolution'

I screwed this up too. KInfoCenter, not Kcontrol shows this information.

I really don't know what's going on to cause your Opera to get stuck at 120, but I suggest closing Opera completely, then renaming ~/.opera6.ini to something else or deleting ~/.opera/opera*ini*, then
starting Opera again. You'll find that resets all Opera settings to their defaults, and it should cause the URL's DPI report to be 96. If this resets the Opera UI to too tiny for you to manage to
change font sizes via preferences I suggest a temporary lowering of screen resolution via Ctrl-Alt-- or the KRandRTray screen adjustment applet or using the KMag screen magnifier on the pref panel.
BTW, what is your screen resolution and display size? Which *buntu are you using? Which Opera are you using, and from what source?
I just installed the Opera .deb from Opera's download site on a fresh Feisty install running 1280x960. It reports 96 DPI, but only after several reloads. :-p KInfoCenter and Firefox also report 96 DPI.
