I used 3 different adapters on my Feisty laptop.  These are working "out 
of the box" on my laptop, but needs the "restricted driver"... On 
Mandriva, I had to install madwifi to make them work, but they were 
working perfectly there too...

- D-Link DWL-G650
- Belkin (don't remember the model, but it was a "G" and working 
perfectly under Linux while I couldn't make it work under doze)
- Netgear WG111 USB

I think you'll need to check for the chipset on the card.  I know that 
D-Link has many different revisions of the same card, and the chipset 
may vary from a revision to another.  The Belkin and the D-Link are 
using atheros chipsets...
