Dealing with problems on ubuntu

I'm new to Ubuntu myself, so I'm trying to absorb as much as I can. I
agree with the others that re-install should be a last resort.
Although there have been times that my installation was fubar and
didn't have a back up so a reinstall was basically my best option.
Lesson - back up regularly.

The other thing that I did was created a custom search engine using
Google, Currently it searches 83 Ubuntu/Linux/Open Source web sites
which you can add to your search engines. I created a redirect link
at http://alaskanbest.com/ubuntusearch.htm because the actual URL is
stupid long and some email clients break it.

I also archive this list in my gmail account to search if I remember a
conversation on my problem. The Ubuntu IRC channel on freenode.net is
also helpful for quick one to one help.

Hope this helps.
