No. USB-to-Parallel adators - note, they're that way round, not the
reverse - are for printers only.

(A parallel-to-USB adaptor would allow the connection of USB devices
to a parallel port, which is, basically, impossible.)

Frankly, I doubt you'll get a parallel-port scanner working under
anything but Windows. Get yourself a SCSI scanner and a SCSI card -
both are commonly available for free now; try your local Freecycle
mailing list. That'll work. Or, of course, a modern USB scanner.
