NetworkManager not connecting automatically

I wasn't able to get mine working with Feisty and ndiswrapper, and
remembered somewhere reading that you had to hardwire the connection,
not use Network Manager. Not wanting to do that I uninstalled
ndiswrapper and installed wireless using fwcutter following the
instructions at
http://ubuntuforums.org/archive/index.php/t-434946.html
rebooted, everything works well using Network Manager. My only problem
was my stupidity, it wasn't working until I checked my wireless light
on the laptop, I had at some point turned it off, Fn+F2 got it up and
working.
