Hi all,
I'm using kubuntu 7.04 on an hp laptop with an ati x1600 video card, and I'd
like to enable beryl. Now I've installed all the packages required as
specified in the wiki
http://wiki.beryl-project.org/wiki/Install_Beryl_on_Ubuntu_Feisty_with_ATI
and the one available on the ubuntu site but I cannot get beryl working. It
always switches to the "backup" window manager and in the terminal where I
run beryl-manager I can see:
[luca at fluca:~]$ beryl-manager
[luca at fluca:~]$ Xlib: extension "XFree86-DRI" missing on display ":0.0".
X Error: BadDevice, invalid or uninitialized input device 167

(here I tried also to select compiz as window manager).
If I run beryl I get:
[luca at fluca:~]$ beryl
**************************************************************

Detected xserver : AIGLX
Checking Display :0.0 ...
Checking for XComposite extension : failed
No composite extension
beryl: No composite extension
that requires to enable composite extension, but if I do that I still don't
get beryl working and moreover I cannot get the 3d acceleration working (or
at least all screensavers run very slowly!). The following is my xorg.conf
file, does anybody has a clue about how to use beryl?
Thanks,
Luca
