Ubuntu 7.04 Feisty Fawn-R.Donahue

Hello,
I have a question. I've had Feisty Fawn 7.04 since it's inception, April 
2007. I'm using GNOME 2.18.1 build date 4/10/07. There is a delay of 
starting applications, a delay of about 6-10 seconds. Is there anyone 
out there that has these delay issues as I do? If so, have you resolved 
them, and how?
