Hello Chris,

I can confirm this same problem with 2 machines I have Firefox hard lock 
with Java usually video and a browser restart is needed.

After updating to 9.0 r31 as Jonathan suggested it happens much less 
often really only occasionally maybe give the 9.0 r31
version a try and see if this helps.
