Starting applications at boot

I have a very basic Ubuntu question.  I'm running Web servers (Apache Tomcat
5.5.20) on Ubuntu 6.06 Server and have to start them manually each time I
boot.  I know that servers can be started automatically at boot, but as
someone new to both Linux and Ubuntu, I don't know how.  Can anyone help?
