Well, you can check this.. And I hope you do........
Vi will turn out to be a link to vim.........
Very ...Very.. Very ....Very Very few distros ship with the original, real
honest to apple pie vi editor..
I believe FreeBSD still ships with vi...

As I said before, I don't use vi myself except to get a fresh install
