How do I start solving this "FontSet" problem?

Hi Everybody,

Recently I installed a program (FPGA Advantage 7.3) on my
Ubuntu 7.04 box. However, when I try to start the program,
I get the following error message:

Invoking FPGA Advantage with Precision Physical Synthesis...
Error: Could not create FontSet for font \
'-adobe-helvetica-medium-r-normal-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*'.
The following character sets cannot be drawn with this font:
....
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
And then it fails to open.

However, that same software works fine on
CentOS 4.5 (kernel 2.6.9).

I tried xfontsel, and I could see the above mentioned font there.
Now what do I do? I really don't enjoy working on any non-Debian
based distro :-(

Have you faced any similar problems with any software? If so,
how did you solve it? I cannot think of any place I should start
solving this. Google could not help.
