So, how do you prevent the one who actually is buying the computer from 
buying one with Windows pre-installed? Since - judging from what you 
said before - when it comes bundled with Windows, the question whether 
or not it works with Ubuntu doesn't arise anymore.

Don't know. What is a "BestBuy"?

You started this thread asking whether Ubuntu would work on all 
computers meeting some (very unspecific) criteria. Then I got the 
impression your main problem was to get a machine without a bundled copy 
of Windows. Now I think that I don't have an idea of what you really 
want to know.
