ping not resolving names

It must not be. As I said in the first post, networking works, and every other 
program is able to resolve names (including traceroute, if one is suspecting 
any ICMP behaviour). Only ping is being problematic, and only in respect to 
name resolution. I even tried clearing all firewall rules, but nothing 
changed.

I don't think my router supports this (linksys wrt54g), but I could try 
routing through the desktop box. But I'm sure the DNSs mentioned are valid.

I don't like it either, but that's avahi/zeroconf/networkmanager's stuff. And 
as I said, everything else works flawlessly.

I wish I could provide better debugging information. If anyone remembers 
something else I could provide, please ask away.
