setting maildir directory in evolution

Hullo there.

This question has been posed via Launchpad, with no answer forthcoming
as yet. I have struck a bug with evolution as installed in feisty
(evolution version 2.10.1), which is that there is no way to select the
desired maildir-format directory. The dialogue forces you to select a
file, not a directory. I have many, many megabytes of mail in maildir
format that I want to access via evolution :-(

So I selected a file instead of a directory, then went and hand-edited
the file in which evolution appears to store this data, namely:

   ~/.gconfd/apps/evolution/mail/%gconf.conf

but it magically gets reset back to whatever it was before. Either I
don't know where the "real" valueis stored, or something else is going
on.

So: Does anyone else out there use Evolution 2.10.1 and maildir-format
directories? If so, how did you set your maildir?
