I have recently installed ndiswrapper to a newly installed and
upgraded feisty laptop.
i have installed the latest ndiswrapper in the repository.
sudo ndiswrapper -v
gives me
<snip>
utuks Error: no version specified!
driver version: 1.38
vermagic: 2.6.20-generic SMP mod_unload 586
<snip>
I installed the latest windows XP driver from Intel for my
Intel wireless wifi link 4965AG chip.
sudo ndiswrapper -l
gives me
<snip>
netw4x32: driver installed
device (8086:4229) present
<snip>
when i load i got a wlan0 device
which seemed to work fine.
until my pc crashed.
I rebooted and noticed some error messages about ndiswrapper
this is what was in the dmesg
<snip>
ndiswrapper (NdisWriteErrorLogEntry:231) : log: 40001B7C, count: 2,
return_address: e06ed5d2
ndiswrapper (NdisWriteErrorLogEntry:234) : code: 0x56524457
ndiswrapper (NdisWriteErrorLogEntry:234) : code 0xddd
<snip>
after boot i couldn't reconnect with my wireless network.
I tried to unload the ndiswrapper at which point everything but my
mouse locked up.
I ended up having to force reboot the system.
I am wondering there is a stability issue with the ndiswrapper module?
TIA,
Tomoki
