We have tried Rescue mode using the alternate CD. In rescue mode, the
partitions on the SATA drive do not show up, just as they do not show up
using the LiveCD.
We have not tried an actual *install*: the disk in question already has
a Feisty install on it. I don't see a reason why an install is likely to
work on a disk that neither the LiveCD, the Rescue portion of the
alternate CD nor the kernel installed on the drive itself (as accessed
by GRUB) can detect, is there a reason that you know of?
We've also tried the Ubuntu 2.6.22 kernels (Gutsy) and 2.6.17 (Edgy?)
(installed via a chroot inside the SuSE rescue disk) with no success.
