Actually, I'm not really sure exactly what I'm blocking, but the work/don't 
work states are consistent with my firewall being down or up.

I use a modified version of a script made from a paranoid guy [1]. When I 
tested firestarter instead, GDL just worked, which it seems obvious I 
somewhere screwed the firewall rules, since I allow all traffic to/from 
localhost.
