Try renaming the %gconf.xml file (purpose=gconf will recreate the file
with defaults)
See if it works
Cheers

Subject: gconf-editor and read only keys
Hi List.
I've managed to lock two keys in gconf-editor and I can't figure out how
to unlock them.
/apps/gnome-power-manager/can_hibernate
...and...
/apps/gnome-power-manager/can_suspend
My laptop does not like suspend so I wanted to get rid of that button on
the shutdown dialog. I had it working but then messed something up
while experimenting and now the keys are marked as read-only. :)
Can anyone help?
I'd also like to get rid of the switch-user button at the same time if
anyone can help with that.
Thanks.
