xmlto pdf test.xml

Hi, I'm on Ubuntu feisty, and trying to compile a simple test.xml file to
PDF output.

test.xml:

running xmlto txt test.xml and xmlto html test.xml both work as expected.
running xmlto pdf test.xml gives this output:
