Try 'apt-cache policy sun-java5-jre'.  If that says it can't find a
package, then you do not have multiverse enabled.

Also, you may want to checkout www.frostwire.com instead of limewire.

Thanks, I'm downloading FrostWire now.  I've got sun-java5-jre installed as per Tim's instructions.  Haven't tried to re-install LimeWire, yet.
