$ dlocate vol_id
udev: /usr/share/man/man8/vol_id.8.gz
udev: /lib/udev/vol_id
volumeid: /sbin/vol_id
So, /lib/udev/vol_id is (of course) part of udev, but the "volumeid" package
seems to install another version - or at least make it more easily
available (and, volumeid is a dependency of udev, anyway, at least in
feisty).
