Apache2 not working in Feisty

Does anyone honestly use the Apache/mod_perl etc. modules supplied with Ubuntu?
I'm an experienced web developer but trying to get my head around where all the files are located, the binaries, the log files etc. Drove me to distraction.
Much easier to install from source in my opinion and then you have more control and everything is in one place or where you want to install it all.
Just my two pence worth. FWIW. Same for MySQL but maybe I'm old school in that thinking.

That solved the problem. Now also PHP works.
Thank you so much!
