Ati, xorg, lcds and wires

Hi,

I was having problems with my old lcd wire, image turns to red, so I
bought a new one.

I have my laptop connected to the external monitor, using the clonning
screens in fglrx driver.

Now with the new wire, for some reason, xorg is not able to detect the
right screen resolution of my lcd (1680x1050) so when I start the X
server it starts with the laptop resolution (1280x800) and I am not able
to select the external screen res.

By the way, if I boot with the old wire and change it after it detects
the resolution everything works fine.

Is there any way to force xorg to boot in a specific resolution?

The only difference between the wires is that the new one has one of the
pins removed (14 pins instead of 15).
